Tackling Stress |
|
|
Stress has
become common in the workplace today. More and more people are
under increasing stress due in personal as well as career lives.
Tackling with stress is very important to have a fulfilling
career life.
Positive
Stress
A little bit of
stress is beneficial. But one should know where to draw the
line. If stress exceeds a certain point it harms the body and
the mind and results in depression and frustration.
Before
understanding how to deal with stress, it is very important what
stress is all about. Read on.
Stress is force
of a kind of force. It is the force created by the mind that can
distort, and deform your body and mind in some manner. Not only
are the visible body parts affected by stress, but also so are
the below-the-surface areas such as cells and organs. When you
are under stress you lack clarity of thought. Your attitudes and
viewpoints are changed. Loss of self-esteem, you manner of
dealing with others are all ramifications of stress.
The feeling of
not wanting to do anything and feeling nauseated are the most
common manifestations of stress.
Tackling
stress
- Once you
know you are under stress, it is important, first, to
understand the situation that brought you under stress.
- Start the
analysis broadly. Analyze whether, it is the personal life
that is causing stress or the career life (or both).
- Next, try
and zero in on the exact situation that caused stress. It
could be impractical deadlines in work, a disturbed personal
life, financial problems, etc.
- Just let go
of stress. This may sound silly and impractical. But is very
important and with s little effort you can do it. Try not to
think of stress. Generally people increase the level of stress
by thinking more of it, even if it is not that grave. Do not
complicate the situation by giving undue weightage to it. The
best way to let go is to think of an other situation other
than the one causing stress. Take a break, change your
surroundings. When a person goes through a highly stressful
period and then lets it go, he/she has a better chance of
escaping from their body’s manifestations of illness or
disease.
- Another
important and more basic way of dealing with stress is not
people, frustration, disappointment, fear, unfulfilled desires
or negative expectations. Purely and simply, the cause of
stress is your attitude towards these things. Remember that
stress is not caused by problems, but by your attitude toward
these problems. Nothing or no one has the power to put you
under stress if you do not want to. Your mind is the most
powerful and a weak mind will let others influence you.
- Relaxation:
this is very important in dealing with stress. Relaxation
covers the entire personality, body, mind and soul. The only
way to get stress out of your being is to let in relaxation.
You cannot be relaxed and stressed at the same time. Practice
relaxation slowly and steadily. You cannot be completely
relaxed in one go (if you can, that is great). Set aside some
time in a day for relaxation. When you relax for a period of
time everyday, you moderate stress. By moderating, you reduce
the negative effects of stress.
The
above-mentioned points are the basic stressbusters. Apart from
them, there are other stress-busters like meditation, reading,
going on a short holiday, playing sports etc. that will help you
overcome stress. Choose the right one for you and get rid of
stress, but never give more than necessary importance to stress. |
